I am a first year Biochemistry student and ambassador at Imperial College London having received a President's Undergraduate Scholarship for my academic achievements. My family moved to the UK in 2013, and within 5 years of being in an initially unknown education system, I managed to become a very high achiever through my commitment and hard-work ethic.
At GCSE, my grades were 12 A*s and 1 A, including English, Triple Science, Maths and Further Maths. At the end of the year, I received 3 awards for Effort & Achievement in Economics, French and History and 2 Student of The Year Awards for Science and Mathematics.
My A-Level results are as follows:
Biology - A*
Chemistry - A*
Mathematics - A* (100% in C1, C2, S2 and C4// 98% in C3// 96% in S2)
Economics - A*
Greek - A*
Furthermore, I was a Science and Senior Prefect at KS4 and a Senior Prefect in charge of KS3 during Sixth Form, which is evidence for my good team-working and communication skills.
Apart from the subjects listed on the side of the page, I am also happy to tutor for Further Maths at GCSE level.
I have a true commitment to my subjects and I enjoy reading and going to lectures in my spare time. Thus I am always up for a casual discussion about current news and events with my tutees, which will be helpful to them when applying to university to talk about as part of their personal statement or at interview.
I love learning and I aspire to pass that love on to all of my tutees as I believe that being a lover of learning is the key path to becoming a successful student!
I have had many hours in teaching as I have been involved with tutorial group sessions for other students throughout my time at secondary school.
Being a Science Prefect at KS4, I tutored many of my classmates and younger students during lunchtimes, helping them with their homework or understanding the lesson content. Similarly, at Sixth Form, I was the leader of Economics Society and participated in the BioChem Society, doing subject-related presentations every week. Also, as part of my school's enrichment programme for Key Stages 3 and 4 and my role as a prefect, I got to teach a range of topics over the past year, from Globalisation to Epigenetics to a number of year groups.
Finally, I volunteered for the Greek Saturday School for two years teaching students Greek as a foreign language. Thus I have had experience in working with both children and teenagers. I currently volunteer at my local library where I have informally helped students with their homework and exam preparation as part of my duties over the past year.
It is all up to you. I am very flexible and happy to tailor my style of tutoring to suit your personal needs. As a student myself, I use a range of techniques to learn (flashcards, mind-maps, notes etc) so I acknowledge that every student is unique in their learning and that different learning methods may be best for different topics.
What I am very keen on is providing constant feedback and highlighting problem areas in order to achieve consistently good results. Therefore, mini (stress-free) tests and quizzes at the start of every lesson may be a regular occurrence.
Having sat the exams recently myself, I have a huge bank of exam questions, notes and exam tips that I cannot wait to pass on!
