I am a 33 year old father of two. I enjoy playing and watching sports and I am a keen baker. I also enjoy playing the guitar and writing songs. Where possible I try to bring music into my teaching of languages. Finally I have done a lot of work on memory and using a variety of memory techniques to improve my students' learning.
I am a modern foreign languages teacher who has taught and 3 secondary schools in the north east over 8 years. Alongside my teaching role, I am now a pastoral and behavioural lead in my school where I am responsible for keeping children safe in education. I have taught French, Spanish and Chinese at primary and secondary level. With Spanish and Chinese taught up to a-level. I have an excellent understanding of all GCSE and A-level syllabuses and can confidentially direct students towards improving their grade from any starting point.
I am an enthusiastic and passionate teacher of languages. I try to make every lesson a challenge for my students and I enjoy using puzzles to help improve problem solving skills. I believe that languages teaching should be grounded in getting the student speaking as much as possible, however I also believe that there is a place for grammatical practice to improve understanding.
