I am a specialist dyslexia teacher, working with primary age students. I teach English, Maths, Science, PSHE, ICT, Art and Social Skills. I work with students who have a diagnosis of dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties such as ADHD, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and emotional school avoidance.
I have taught in mainstream education for four years before fulfilling my passion of specialist education. I have taught both primary and secondary ages although most of my experience is with Year 3-6 and Year 6 SATs.
I have recently completed a degree in teaching literacy to students with dyslexia and this is where my interest lies.
I do not offer online lessons as I feel it is important to build a rapport with students and to meet them in person. Learning should be multisensory and engaging which is difficult to achieve online!
I follow a specific approach for dyslexic learners who may experience attention difficulty. This is a structured programme which improves the learner's ability to read and write. This is game-based and completely personalised for the individual learner.
I also offer tutoring for Maths and can support students with confidence in SATs test or general Maths support. Many students who struggle with dyslexia can also find Maths challenging or experience maths anxiety. I look to help the learner overcome this by finding useful strategies for specific questions.
