Frank

Hi! My name is Frank and I recently graduated from the University of Liverpool with first class honours, in BSc Finance. The finance course was great for me as it required a combination of both mathematical and economical reasoning skills, in order to answer maths-based and essay-based questions. One of my personal highlights from my time at university was the year I spent working in the finance department at Volkswagen Group UK's head office! Alongside my studies, I participated in a number of sports - most notably running a football team made up of around 50 students - and I am extremely proud to say that we won the league in my final year.

Throughout my academic, professional, and sporting life I have benefitted greatly from external guidance and mentorship from others. I am acutely aware of the ways in which a second pair of eyes, an alternative explanation or an extra bit of encouragement can make massive differences when it comes to academic development and grades. I would therefore be absolutely delighted to pass on my knowledge, experiences, and skills to help students make the most of their academic life.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously been a mentor to younger students whilst in school and university. This has typically involved me giving additional feedback on written or maths-based work, or providing alternative explanations, particularly in the context of mathematics. In addition to this, I have previously given maths tutoring to school age children, as well as working within schools delivering careers advice.

Whilst working for Volkswagen, I was part of a team who created a work experience programme for GCSE age students, which was ran nationwide.

Tutoring Approach

As a recent graduate, I would hope that any potential student could relate to me, as someone who has not so long ago been in the same situation as them! On the flip side of this, I know I can relate to potential students, having sat the same exams, and encountered the same pressures and difficulties along the way. This shared experience allows me to approach tutoring with empathy and insight, to bridge the gap between student and tutor, creating a learning environment which benefits from trust, honesty, and mutual understanding. It is my hope that these qualities will help students to feel that they are working as part of a team, towards a common goal.
