I am a first year university student at University of Southampton, studying Electrical and Electronic engineering, keen in helping people with maths as it is my strongest academic area and I am very passionate about sharing my knowledge and mathematical processes with anyone who needs some guidance. I achieved A* in maths and A in further maths A-level, achieving 90% and 87% respectively, I also achieved an A in physics and an A in chemistry. I also achieved Grade 9 in maths GCSE and Grade 9 in further maths A-level achieving 88% and 95% respectively.
I was senior maths prefect at my school and I mentored 1 student in GCSE and 1 student in KS3. The student I mentored in GCSE maths, I was able to guide him to a Grade 9. The student in KS3, I was able to improve his rank by 34 places within a year. I met up weekly individually with the both of them for 1 hour. I also provided help to my classmates, helping him to get from a 4 to an 8 from his mock to his GCSE and from a D to a B at A-level. I also have experience in helping students with homework at any level, as I have been doing so with my sister for the past 7 years.
I believe going through practice questions in the weak topic of a student and making sure they understand the process is the best way to improve mathematically. I believe letting my students approach the questions and then helping them and showing every basic step of the process is the best way to show how to tackle a topic. I also believe students must know how to approach each question individually so I like to add extra parts to practice questions or give them the same question with a slight tweak to ensure they get the full grasp of the question. I believe being patient and understanding with my students is the best way to push them to their best mathematically.
