I am an experienced primary school teacher and primary maths leader, now working as a Lecturer of Primary Mathematics at the University of Reading.
In this role I work with undergraduate and post graduate trainee teachers, coaching them in the teaching of primary maths as well as supervising them on school placements.
I gained my teaching qualification from the University of Cambridge and have an undergraduate masters degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford.
In my career in education to date I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of children make great progress both with their academic and personal development. Through my work as a teacher educator it is a joy to see the impact of trainees I work with on the children they teach.
I believe that every child can succeed and find pleasure in mathematics. I work to build confidence as well as achievement in the subject following a teaching for mastery approach. Key principles of this approach include building from the current understanding of the student in small steps, developing a depth of understanding at each stage.
