I'm Georgie, a recent graduate from Edinburgh University, where I graduated with a first class degree in politics (specialising in contemporary political theory). I won the prizes for the best graduating student in my year and the best dissertation in the year, which earned a grade of 90 and is currently being submitted for publication. In October I will be starting an MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History at the University of Cambridge, where I have won a scholarship from the prestigious Cambridge Trust, which only 10% of postgraduate students accepted to Cambridge receive.
Before university, I studied Politics, History and Economics at A level, where I received three A* grades. At GCSE, I received nine grade 9s and one grade 8.
In my spare time I love reading in cafes, going on runs and walking round the botanical garden!
I am confident teaching all humanities subjects at GCSE and A-Level (or equivalent), and I am also confident in teaching first year social sciences at a degree level, or reviewing a social sciences / philosophy dissertation. I would also love to teach adult / casual learners in subjects such as politics, political theory and philosophy, where we could create our own curriculum together :)
While I have no private tutoring experience, I have been giving free English GCSE tutoring to a family friend in need for a number of months now. I also have taught first year university students on my course under the politics PALS scheme, which was invaluable in exposing me to many different learning styles and struggles new university students face in getting to grips with academics.
My experience as an editor on the student-led social sciences journal at Edinburgh has also honed my experiences of editing written work and giving thorough, fair and helpful feedback.
I first and foremost like to approach my teaching process with kindness, patience and empathy, as I know how difficult and stressful the examination and university system can often be.
For GCSE, A Level, and university students, I also like to take a hands-on approach where we go through your writing in real time, discussing your choices, what went well and how to improve.
However, it is important to me to tailor my session to every clients unique needs, so I offer a 50% discount on the first session to discuss your / your child's needs in more detail.
