I am an avid reader and a passionate writer who enjoys trying new sports and creative hobbies in my spare time. I’m of Scottish decent, and have been living in London for five years now post-graduation.
I am a qualified English teacher with a university degree in English literature. I take lead on creative writing and reading classes within my school, as well as maintaining a position as a form tutor and mentor to various students where I support with personal development and overall well-being, alongside English focused tuition. I have worked with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, ASD, personal, social and mental health challenges, and those who are learning at a slower pace, or are at a rapid rate and need to be stretched. I personally head up our Stretch and Challenge group for English MAGT students and craft sets of work and activities to be completed weekly.
My priority is always to connect with my students as feelings or discomfort or disconnection do not promote positive learning results. I model, guide, and encourage independent learning, alongside encouraging active debate and discussion. I will always review prior learning and create strategic low-stakes quizzes and tests to help embed learning into long term memory.
