I have been teaching French for over 30 years as an MFL teacher and Head of Department in high schools in Lancashire. In addition, I have a Masters degree in French and a Graduate Diploma in German and have taught German to KS3 pupils in high school. Furthermore, I am a trained TEFL teacher, having taught English to students from various countries around the world.
I have taught students in groups and individually at differing ability levels from beginners to advanced including at GCSE and A level in French, German and English as a foreign language. I recognize that students learn in many different ways and therefore adapt and differentiate my lessons to suit the needs of the specific learners that I am teaching. I believe it is important to have an all-round education to ensure that you can reach your maximum potential. To this end, I have studied Maths to first year university level and taught Spanish to Years 7, 8 and 9 pupils who were beginning their Hispanic studies at High School.
As a teacher, I aim to engender a love of and enthusiasm for learning in all learners whatever their level. As an MFL teacher, my aim is to develop learners’ use of all 4-language skills to a high level in the target language with reference to good pronunciation, a sound vocabulary and a clear understanding of the grammatical structure of the language they are learning.
