Maths and Chemistry Tutoring in Scunthorpe

I am a year 13 student and I have currently applied for medicine. I hope to become a doctor in the future so that I can serve my local community in a meaningful way. I have received 3 offers for medicine from Hull York Medical School, the University of Sheffield and the University of Nottingham and am currently waiting for a response from the final university. I have always had a passion for tutoring and for the past 2 years I have been tutoring students from year 4 to year 9. I enjoy working with students to help them achieve better in the subjects that they do at school. I also wish to support students in their journey to achieve their progression goals. I believe education opens doors to many opportunities and I find it a privilege to aid children in opening these doors.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored other students from year 3 up until year 9. I really enjoy working with students to help them feel more confident in their subjects. I have also taught my peers in these subjects. I got 9 for GCSE maths, biology, chemistry and physics and would love to help anyone that is struggling in those subjects. I got all A's in my first year of A level Chemistry, Biology and Maths and am consistently getting A*'s in the second year. In my UCAT I scored 2890, which was in the 92nd percentile and I also got a Band 1 for the situational judgement test.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that tutoring should be individualised to the needs of individual students and so I do not take a blanket approach with tutoring and I prefer to discuss with my students to arrange a plan of support ideal to them. What I usually do is working 1 topic behind what they do at school and consolidating exam technique on those topics and revising them together or another way to is teach ahead of the syllabus so when they cover it in school it will be like revision for the student. I usually explain topics using diagrams and examples and by teaching handy mnemonics to aid retention and recollection. I appreciate that the medical application process can be daunting so I am more than happy to help with that! I am happy to offer support with the UCAT, personal statement and interview prep :) I got offers from both the Russel group universities I applied to (Sheffield and Nottingham) and also I got an offer from HYMS.
