My name is Graham, and I have a history of supporting KS3 and GCSE students in Mathematics and Science including Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I prefer to work with students one to one in the comfort of their own homes or in an alternative location of their preference.
I am an MSc graduate in Cognitive Neuroscience. I have a strong academic background achieving As in A-level Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics; later I completed a BSc in Biomedical Sciences and then an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience with distinction grade.
I have seven years of experience tutoring A-level, GCSE and KS3 level Mathematics and Science (Biology, Physics and Chemistry). I have supported multiple students in their goals to achieve A-C grades. Given that I have tutored many students that have successfully achieved their desired grades and higher, I have become very confident in my ability to facilitate learning of complex concepts in Maths and Science subjects.
Before I begin tutoring any student, I make sure that I know their particular specification depending upon the examining board, the student's level of ability and the level that they aspire to achieve.
I believe that all students are different and have a different pace of study, which is why it is important to me that each session is tailored to the needs of the student.
Initial classes involve an assessment of a student's ability through interview style questions and an evaluation of subject knowledge. Later, classes focus on weaknesses identified by the initial assessment through explanation of concepts, example questions and exam paper guidance. I provide summary sheets for every lesson, and every student receives a notepad and revision guide to facilitate lessons and homework. I assess student’s understanding at the end of every topic area covered in the subject specification using exam-style questions that are representative of the question style of the exam board. Finally, as end of year exams near, sessions focus on past papers, especially on questions that the student finds difficult.
