I am a qualified teacher with 30 years of experience across both selective grammar schools and comprehensive schools, bringing deep understanding of diverse educational environments and student needs. As a mother to a teenage daughter, I have firsthand insight into how children learn differently - each has unique talents and learning needs, and I tailor my teaching approach to unlock their individual potential. Over the past 10 years, I have specialised in English teaching at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level, combining this with my classical expertise. I can tutor from 11 plus through to GCSE level and resits for GCSE.
My senior leadership experience includes Head of Classics, Oxbridge Coordinator, and Scholarship Coordinator, giving me comprehensive knowledge of high-achievement pathways and elite university preparation. I have also coordinated the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), supporting students in developing independent research and critical thinking skills.
I have 30 years teaching experience in the classroom, catering to the needs of all learners.
I have tutored English, Latin and Classics online for the past 5 years.
I have both a Masters and a PGCE from the University of Cambridge.
I love to see that light bulb moment when students grasp something which they have been struggling with for some time! I am friendly and supportive and will endeavour to find whichever way suits a student to help them progress. I break complex subjects or exam questions down and take things step by step, modelling as I go. I give detailed feedback and clear, actionable steps forward.
