English Tuition in Leeds

I am 25 year old aspiring solicitor, due to start my professional legal qualifications in 2026. Therefore, I am seeking work in the meantime and have heard from personal relations that online tutoring is a rewarding way to fill spare time. I have two degrees (Law and English) as well as a Masters in Law - I thoroughly enjoyed studying English in school, and in University, so I'd love to share my passion with current students. I won a prize at university whilst studying English, for my creative writing, and I feel I have a lot to give to students currently studying / preparing for upcoming exams.

Tutoring Experience

I am from a family of teachers! So, in my early school holidays I spent a lot of time in my mums classroom. I have been tutored, as well as tutored family for GSCE exams (undertaken earlier this year) so I have an understanding of the expectations, need to prepare for lessons and the general proceedings within lessons. I do, however, understand the need to tailor the lessons towards the needs and desires of the particular student.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach depends on the particular student, as well as the time of year in which the tutoring is taking place.
Around Exams:
Around exams it is important to let the student have autonomy in the lessons. Targeting areas that they feel are weaker, or require improvement. I would also provide preparation to an important lesson, in which practice questions and scenarios will provide valuable experience to the student.
In general term time:
However, in general term time, I think it's important to start basic, evaluate their level of competency and then build a 4/5-week program (that remains flexible) that targets specific areas the student aims to see improvement in.
