I have been a teacher for 15 years and currently teach at one of the best performing grammar schools in the country based in Chelmsford.
I have a degree from the prestigious King's College London University in Human Sciences, which enables me to teach both Biology and Chemistry to A level standard. However, for 10 years of my teaching career I have chosen to focus on A level Chemistry as students tend to find this subject the most difficult and I enjoy the satisfaction of being able to make it accessible for all. Having gone to part time teaching this year to spend more time with my family, I am delighted to be able to offer more tutoring availability
I have 15 years of education experience as a science and chemistry teacher in a number of high-performance schools in Essex, including the past five years at a grammar school ranked in the top-five performing girls' state school in the UK. I have been a Head of Year, Head of KS5 Science, a mentor to trainee teachers and have examiner training experience. I also have vast experience teaching students with SEN requirements such as ASD, ADHD, dyspraxia, social and emotional needs etc. Many of my students are able to attain top grades that have led to them to study at Oxbridge, Russell group universities, get awarded places on top performing degree apprenticeships in highly competitive subjects like engineering, medicine, material science and dentistry.
I have a friendly and knowledgeable approach to tutoring, spending time to identify areas where students need to improve, focussing on building knowledge, and practicing exam technique. I am able to adapt my teaching structure to adjust to what any particular student may need to bolster their understanding. All many students comment on my friendly nature and that my chemistry classes are where they feel at home, I bring this warm nature to my tutoring sessions as I truly believe students learn best when they feel comfortable and safe.
