Hazel

I graduated in June 2024 with a 2.1 in History from the University of Aberdeen. I also received an A in Advanced Higher History and an A in Advanced Higher French from the SQA in 2018 whilst at secondary school. During my first two years of university, I also studied French. I am currently volunteering with the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Council Archives, and I am a member of the Scottish Society for the History of Medicine. My plan as of now is to apply for a postgraduate degree in Scottish Heritage at the University of Aberdeen starting in January 2025.

Tutoring Experience

I am new to the tutoring profession, but I did volunteer in an Advanced Higher French class at my former school from 2018-2019 during my gap year, primarily to assist with their speaking skills.
I have very recent experience in university education, meaning I have a range of knowledge from different eras, as well as the ability to offer advice to pupils looking to enter university.

Tutoring Approach

For French, I will be providing a mixture of reading, writing and speaking assistance, by going over examples given by teachers or in past papers, and devising my own tasks where necessary to increase their competence, especially in speaking.
For History, I will be working alongside their historical topics in order to increase their base of knowledge and offer advice on how to write the best essays. For Advanced Higher pupils in particular, I am willing to provide advice and guidance on entering university as a History student and how best to approach their Advanced Higher dissertation.
