I am a bilingual (Korean and English) tutor currently completing my BSc in Geography and Environmental Science with a specialisation in Spatial Data Science at King’s College London, where I am on track to graduate with First-Class Honours (expected 73%). I also hold an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, having scored highly in English SL, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL, and Biology HL (all high 6s).
Having lived and studied in South Korea, the United States, Myanmar, and the UK, I bring a culturally inclusive approach and strong communication skills to my tutoring. I would now like to further my tutoring experience by helping students in English, Korean, or Mathematics—areas where I have both academic strength and teaching experience. I am passionate about supporting learners of all backgrounds to build confidence and achieve their goals.
From August 2019 to March 2020, I worked as a private tutor for an elementary student from a non-English speaking background, teaching English and Mathematics to support their transition to an international school. I designed individualised lesson plans to address specific language and numeracy gaps, helping the student improve reading fluency, writing skills, arithmetic, and problem-solving abilities.
In addition to tutoring, I’ve led academic projects, organised events, and worked in consulting and research roles—all of which have strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create structured, supportive learning environments. I’m now looking to extend this experience by teaching English, Korean, or Mathematics to students at various levels.
My tutoring approach is personalised, structured, and student-focused. I begin by assessing the learner’s current ability and goals, then create a customised plan that targets key areas for growth. For English, I focus on grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and conversation skills, adapting materials to the student’s interests and proficiency level. For Korean, I tailor lessons based on the student's background—whether beginner or heritage learner—covering reading, writing, speaking, and cultural context. For Mathematics, I prioritise conceptual understanding, using visual tools and step-by-step strategies to build strong problem-solving skills. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and motivated to improve. My goal is not just academic success, but helping students gain confidence in their own ability to learn and grow.
