My name is Ieuan, I am 34 and I live in Bristol. I am a passionate and empathic educator. I have previously worked as a primary school teacher for 5 years. During this time I have recognised that the school system can be a scary place for children. My goal is to remove barriers, raise confidence and instil a love of learning within all of the children that I am fortunate enough to work with.

Tutoring Experience

I am a teacher with 8 years experience of mainstream classroom teaching, evening and Weekend tutoring, planning and delivering a Waldorf Steiner inspired curriculum, tutoring home educated children as well as being a home educating dad. I also have experience as a Maths Lead at a a mainstream school in Bristol. Enthusiasm and relationship building are my key strengths and act as the foundations for the high-quality teaching that I consistently provide.

I have experience with children that have had a range of additional needs. These include children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and cerebral palsy.

Tutoring Approach

Everything I do is focussed on the needs of the child as an individual. I recognise that each child has a unique set of strengths and challenges, I am flexible and adapt to these, tailoring the learning to meet the needs of the child. Through positive relationship building and clear communication I have a proven ability of raising the expectations of a child and working closely with them to help them exceed their targets.

As well as this I have an excellent knowledge of the national curriculum, the misconceptions and anxiety that some of the learning can bring, as well as how to navigate the assessments that comes with it.

I feel it is important that our journey together starts with a phone call where we can not only discuss availability, but find out what it is you hope to gain from the tutoring experience. At this stage it will be important to find out a little more about your child's barriers to learning, their strengths and how I can best help.
