English Lessons in Surbiton

I am a recent First Class BA English with a Year Abroad graduate from the University of Birmingham. I am an excellent communicator with extensive experience in public-facing roles, shaping me into a self-dedicated, confident, friendly individual. My academic success has equipped me with strong analytical and creative skills, and a sharpened attention to detail. I would love to be an English Literature tutor. I am an excellent communicator and coupled with multiple experience working with children, I am eager to teach children a subject I absolutely adore.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience working with children. I worked as a Camp Activity Instructor for 3 years at Ultimate Activity Camp. I delivered structured sports / creative activities and lifeguarded for groups of up to 16 children, whose ages ranged from 4 to 15. I communicated with parents every day, reassuring and relaying important information to the Camp Manager to ensure each child received the best possible care. I also was a Play Leader at Yorda Adventures, an organisation which cares for children with severe learning disabilities. I oversaw the personal well-being, care and hygiene of children, prepared food, and ensured children enjoyed their meals safely. I provided one-to-one care and delivered playful, meaningful activities that fostered the child’s emotional and social development. I also have experience lifeguarding at The Malden Centre, in New Malden, being responsible for the safety of children on pool side. I am committed to creating secure, enjoyable environments for children in my care.

Tutoring Approach

I acknowledge the importance of patience and empathy when working with children with diverse learning styles and challenges. My love for English Literature stems from the view that literature serves as a powerful gateway for understanding different cultures and perspectives. I aim to inspire students to develop a deeper appreciation for literature.
