French Tutoring in Frome

Bonjour!
I offer tuition for GCSE revision and exam preparation, and for Adult Learners at beginners, intermediate and advanced level.
I am a French native speaker and a qualified teacher with experience in teaching in schools, on-to-one and small groups tutoring, and GCSE Examinations marking. I have also done tuition and translation work for companies.
I have a current enhanced DBS which I can show to new students at the first in-person lesson.

Tutoring Experience

My Experience:
- Secondary school teacher (3 years teaching French and German full time in schools, 4 years teaching French as a Teaching Assistant).
- Part-time one-to-one tuition for GCSE and adult learners (9 years).
- Assistant Examiner for OCR and AQA - GCSE French Writing and French Speaking examinations (19 years), and Moderator for CIE - GCSE French Speaking Exam (3 years).

My qualifications:
-Masters in Linguistics, La Sorbonne, Paris IV, 1986
-PGCE, French with German and Special Needs, Exeter School of Education, 1987.
- Certificate in Translation, Words Language Services, Dublin, 2005
- Helping E-Learners Learn Online (introduction course), Ufi /Learndirect, 2006

DBS (CRB) Check: Yes (2024)

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring:
Conversational French. General French for holidays/tourism, speaking with French friends and relatives, understanding French culture and traditions, reading books, magazines, newspapers, guides, recipes, etc.
We can use a book and CDs for vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and role plays. I also have my own materials: helpsheets and authentic articles (magazines, newspapers). I recommend websites to improve your listening and reading skills.

I have been living in England for about 35 years now, travel to France regularly to visit family and friends, and to discover new places.
2024: I have just come back from spending 3 years in France.
I have been learning Italian for 7 years and it always reminds me what it is like to be a learner, and also how lovely it is to progress (with commitment!). Planning to start Spanish in September.
