As for maths, I got an A* at GCSE and an A at A-level and I for one quite enjoy maths. I like order and finding patterns in everything.
As for pastimes, I love being outdoors and travelling, especially by train, I’m quite a big rail enthusiast, but I’m also fans of hiking and cycling. I also enjoy learning languages. I studied Spanish all through school, which I also tutor in, and have a good knowledge of French and Italian.

Tutoring Experience

While I am new to teaching I have spent the past year and a half of my life volunteering 2 hours a week at a scout group where I helped run activities for around 25 children aged 10-14.
I also took a 2 day course on mental health including how to detect various conditions and how best to help people through them such as anxiety. I will use this knowledge in the first chat to see if mental health is an underlying issue in why you are underperforming and try my best to improve your standing and uncover that buried potential.

Tutoring Approach

My first session will be a free 15 minute call to establish why you think you need or want tutoring and which areas you need help with. For those reluctant about the subject, I will make it my mission to change their frame of mind. I will also ask more general questions about what you like about school and your hobbies to see if I can orient the lessons around them.
Once we get going, I will change the topic focused on each week so that it sort of simulates an exam paper where all the topics will be jumbled. I will get most of my questions to set directly from past exam papers so you are familiar with the style and aren’t thrown off on the daunting day.
I will heavenly stress rote memory of times tables and quick mental maths as these are essential for getting any maths question done quickly. I will also focus on doing clear, neat, step by step workings as this will guarantee you getting the extra marks for showing workings even if you get the answer wrong.
