I am a full time professional tutor and graduate of Imperial College London where I received a BSc in Physics. Maths is the language of the sciences and understanding it is critical. I like to get students excited about science by developing not only students' understanding of maths but also their appreciation of it.
I like to swim, cook, hike, exercise, read (history, philosophy, autobiographies and spirituality) and travel.
I have tutored maths and physics for 10 years gaining over 7000 hours of experience. My experience includes:
10 years of one-to-one GCSE and A level maths and further maths tuition.
9 years of one-to-one A level physics tuition. During this time, I have become very familiar with all specifications and a wide range of helpful books and other resources. For the past three of years, I have been writing my own exam style questions to help students make the transition from the more straight forward questions found in most books to the less obvious questions found in the exam papers.
6 years of tutoring GCSE sciences both one-to-one and on a small classroom basis.
In addition to working as an independent tutor, I was head-hunted to work for one of north London's most respected tutoring agencies.
One term working as a voluntary assistant teacher of A level maths and physics.
I also tutor IB and AP maths (calculus AB or BC for AP) and physics (physics C for AP)
My approach to tutoring is systematic and highly organised. When I first meet a tutee, I find out where the student stands with respect to the specification of their course. I always consult the specification to keep lessons focused and make sure that all relevant subject material is discussed carefully. I emphasize the importance of understanding and appreciating the relevant information.
I am patient and capable of developing a multilateral approach tailored to the student's need. I tutor with enthusiasm, patience and a calm manor. Tutoring is something I have always enjoyed and am willing to go the extra mile for.
