Online Maths and Entrance Exams Lessons

Hi! I am an easy-going native English speaker with a passion for teaching. My roles held include: 1 to 1 tutor, class teacher, analyst mentor and conversational partner.

I have worked as a tutor on and off since 2012 for people ranging from 9 - 20 years old in English (EFL), Maths and the core Sciences

As a student and as an Analyst, I have also taught skills needed in Actuarial Science for work and higher education, including IT skills.

I hope to continue to express my passion while applying my best teaching techniques to help people to learn efficiently.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored:
+4 GCSE students in Maths and Chemistry
A University Student in English (EFL)
A pre secondary student in English, Maths and verbal/non verbal reasoning for their 11+ entrance exam
A primary school student in English and Maths.

As a University student and as an Insurance Analyst, I have also taught skills needed in Actuarial Science for work and higher education, including IT skills.

Tutoring Approach

I like to focus on:

An interactive, practical approach to teaching where the student is very much active and involved.

Being open to questions at any point to ensure their understanding.

Teaching step by step to simplify problem solving.

Giving them plenty of opportunities for practice with help where needed.

Setting questions at a level in line with their progress, from simple to more challenging.

Avoiding 1-way teaching, or talking for long periods which I feel is dull and the student often finds difficult to keep track of and engaged in.

Being patient and attentive at all times.

Not pressuring the student, especially for unfamiliar topics, but providing plenty of guidance where needed.
