Passionate, energetic and enthusiastic tutor of Mathematics. I like to make lessons engaging and interactive by using visuals and/or manipulatives. Helping students to build confidence and understanding.
Since completing my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics (with Qualified teacher status) I've spent the last few years tutoring students with a wide range of abilities and ages. I've had a great impact on students attainment in their GCSES, Kent tests and A-levels.
No matter the students ability I like to start at the fundamentals to explore understanding. Mathematics is hierarchical and if one or some of the building blocks are missing then students are left confused and can easily lose confidence. I focus on reducing anxiety through careful scaffolding and pre-empting misconceptions.
