I am passionate about raising student attainment and firmly believe that professional, tailored tutoring can contribute towards successfully meeting this outcome.
I am a maths teacher with over 10 years of classroom experience.
In my current school, a large Inner London Comprehensive, I have held various roles as a member of SLT and Head of Maths. I have full curriculum knowledge of Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level Maths & Further Maths and have delivered all of the main exam board specifications (including Edexcel, AQA, OCR and OCR(MEI).
I have also held the position of examiner for Edexcel at GCSE and so can bring my unique examiner insight into my tutoring sessions.
During an initial consultant session, I would work with the tutee and parents to identify the objectives of tuition. I would then develop a personalised scheme of work. Regular assessment points can be agreed and homework is issued after every session. I share my slides with the tutee for review after the lesson.
During tutoring sessions, I encourage participation with practice questions and can advise on assistive technology to purchase to enable the tutee to write on the online interactive whiteboard during the sessions.
Patience, clarity of explanation and an ability to adapt to the needs of the tutee in real time are fundamental to my teaching approach.
