I am currently training to become a commercial airline pilot with easyJet. I’ve always had a passion for maths using it practically in my degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Liverpool, and in careers in engineering and finance. I have also recently focused on improving my mental maths abilities and techniques for my pilot studies as this was an area I personally struggled with in the past. Whilst at school and university, I valued the time and support my teachers and tutors gave me, so I would like the opportunity to do the same for other people in a subject that I am passionate about.
I'm currently tutoring a GCSE maths student - we're making great progress and I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience. I've taken many opportunities to tutor maths and science throughout my academic studies: providing coaching for 11+ exams, GCSEs, and peer support during my degree and pilot studies.
I like to take an individual, tailored approach to my student's learning. Before meeting a student I want to get an understanding of what they struggle with and what they're good at, so that I can best use the time available to focus on and build confidence in weak areas, whilst maintaining confidence in areas that have already been mastered. I aim to bring a relaxed, friendly feel to my sessions and to demonstrate why a good maths foundation is important, and show that it isn't as hard as it first seems!
