Hi,
My name is Jamie and I'm a maths teacher currently based in Stirling, Scotland. I have been teaching maths now for 8 years (and tutoring privately for over 10 years). I love tutoring and think for some pupils it is a crucial help to their educational journey.

In 2015 I completed my BSc in Mathematics from the University of Strathclyde. I then went on to complete my PGDE qualification to become a Maths Teacher. During my Probation Year in North Ayrshire Council, I began to work towards my Masters Degree, which I completed in 2019 after moving to Stirling Council.

Outside of Maths, I enjoy playing and listening to music as well as walking my dog Molly.

Tutoring Experience

I began tutoring privately when I started studying Maths at the University of Strathclyde. I spent this time honing my skills and making up lots of useful resources which I now use regularly. After completing my degree, I went on to train to become a teacher - which I've been involved in since 2015. While I've been teaching I also completed a Masters in Education where I studied different teaching styles and what the most effective approach is.
From my experience of private tutoring, every pupil requires a slightly different approach, tailored with a unique teaching style to ensure that they are getting the most out of each session. . Below are the courses I can offer.

Primary Maths - Mathematics
BGE (S1-3) Mathematics
SQA National 4 - Mathematics
SQA National 5 - Mathematics, Applications of Mathematics
SQA Higher - Mathematics
SQA Advanced Higher - Mathematics
As well as adult learners perhaps doing a qualification or needing Nat 5 maths for PGDE.

Tutoring Approach

I am a GTCS registered Mathematics teacher with over 10 years of experience. I have a BSc.(Hons) in Mathematics and a Masters in Education. I am available to tutor any qualifications (Nat5, Higher, GCSE etc.) and we can create a bespoke plan for you to help your child get the most out of their education, and ensure they keep up. As a maths teacher I have seen the benefits that can come from a little bit of extra help with maths tuition - we'll aim to prioritise building your child's confidence in maths, and encourage them to develop good habits.
