I am a supply primary teacher and love my job. In my current role, I am fortunate to meet lots of lovely children. I am well known for engaging well with children of all ages and as such, children access learning readily and happily. I enjoy adapting lessons to suit both ability and individuality. Seeing children master a concept after a series of carefully scaffolded lessons brings me great pleasure. I am a caring, friendly and smiley person. I am creative and patient. I am focused, organised and professional in my approach. I have a keen sense of humour and have the ability to retain it whatever the situation.
I have 15 years experience across all year groups in primary and have taught in all year groups from nursery to year 6. I have worked 1-1 with interventions and SATS. I have outstanding lessons in my portfolio and my supply work continues at this level. I have been tutoring for 4 years and have had wonderful feedback from parents. I have had children for short and long term tutoring and I enjoy both equally.
I engage quickly with children to build up a friendly and professional relationship, which is the keystone of the teaching and learning process. I find out what children already know, then practise and apply new learning and skills. I then assess through independent work and begin the process again. My activities and resources are at a personalised level and with an appropriate level of challenge, so children are engaged and motivated. I passionately believe in mastering the basics so children can have a sound knowledge and skills base on which to improve and progress. I cater to children's individual needs in order to accelerate learning and find fun ways to practise and reinforce learning concepts. I find this approach increases children's confidence and self belief and maximises their chances of fulfilling their potential. I focus strongly on supporting children in the run up to SATS and without exception, it has always brought benefits. I work flexibly to give targeted support when it is needed. This works particularly well online when children in KS2 themselves identify areas where they are not as confident and I can provide that instant support with reinforcement and consolidation. Online works especially well for KS2 pupils as times are more flexible, it can provide a targeted, instructive approach in a specific area that aligns with current learning in class and travelling time is taken out of the financial and physical time factors, essentially in winter, and traffic issues.
