I have a Ba and Ma in philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) and a PhD in philosophy. I have an international educational background, having grown up abroad and have a very good understanding of the International baccalaureate (IB), A levels, and the UK higher education system. I'm used to getting along with people with different learning styles and cultural backgrounds. I am highly motivated to see measurable improvement in my students and developing their knowledge base and critical thinking.
I am a friendly, approachable and passionate teacher and life long learner. I believe sharing of knowledge and exploring different questions is a truly rewarding interpersonal experience.
I have taught philosophy and politics courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level at university and have extensive knowledge in humanties generally, including the social sciences, economics and sociology. I have mentored students individually on research projects, essay writing, as well as on their university studies generally and have always seen improvements in their grades.
I am an extrovert and very adaptable. I have struggled with learning difficulties myself as a child and so understand that not everyone learns in the same way.
I like to structure my lessons around desired outcomes that are identified and discussed with my student(s) at the beginning. I believe that learning is best done through a dialogue in which both the student and tutor are asking questions to internalize knowledge. The best way to understand something is to have to explain it.
