Hello, my name is Jenna.

I mainly work with children in Reception upto Year 4 online. I sometimes work with older children who need support with the Early Years, Key Stage 1 or lower Key Stage 2 curriculum. I offer offer 30/45/60 minute lessons on Google Meets which are interactive. I mainly teach Phonics, English and Maths.

As well as being a tutor, I also am part of a choir who has performed in venues such as the Symphony Hall and love yoga and learning new languages.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked in education for over ten years in a variety of roles, including:
-Primary school teacher (I have taught in over 15 schools. In primary schools, I have taught all year groups plus led a subject but I specialise in Early Years and Key Stage 1)
-Teaching assistant in both primary and secondary schools (I have supported children 1:1 with SEND needs and also, supported children with reading programmes)
-Summer camp activity leader (I led art sessions for SEND children)
-Art mentor (I provided/supported art lessons for a charity)
-Exam invigilator (I worked with secondary children during exam periods)

Tutoring Approach

I believe that every child is unique and learns in their own way.

When I first start working with a child, I identify what they can do, what their interests are, how they learn, what they need to move onto and how I can best support them.

My teaching strategies are different for every child I work with as it depends on their learning style. As I am a Early Years specialist, I incorporate a lot of play activities into my lessons and use different resources such as play dough, whiteboards, pens, pencils, sand, etc... I believe that children learn best through play but I do incorporate more formal teaching strategies if it is better suited to the child I am working with.
