I teach during weekdays to support Home Schooled Students. I have a thorough working knowledge of the curriculum expectations across Key Stages.
I love being a tutor. Working one to one and being able to cater for the specific needs of my students is exciting, rewarding and fulfilling. I spend a lot of time before any lesson to carefully plan considered teaching activites. I have the experience to use a variety of approaches to help children learn.
I enjoy planning practical 'hands-on' activities, where children can relax and learn without pressure.
Building trust is important. I am patient and kind. I notice and celebrate success in each session.
I have a relaxed and easy going approach to teaching. I believe that learning should be fun and practical. Where possible; I relate learning activities to the every day and incorporate art, drama and story where I can to support understanding.
I cater to the special interests of my students, often teaching concepts and ideas through a projects, stories or topics. I particularly enjoy topic based activities; where the student takes ownership of their learning. I use craft in my teaching. Most children enjoy making something as they learn. It gives them a sense of achievement and a piece of work to share and celebrate. I adapt my approach in order to incorporate key skills pertinent to Key Stage requirements. Developing independence and decision making is a positive way of learning; it promotes independent thinking, organisation, presentation, and personal creativity.
I teach specific skills or condensed aspects of the curriculum where there is particular need or support required.
I spend time prior to each lesson to plan, collect, and search for both non-fiction and fiction books, resources, artefacts and online support for my students in order to enhance their learning experience.
I often help students with their homework during a session.
I am very flexible and adaptable.
I will provide you with a brief plan for each lesson. I provide notes and feedback. I will spend a little time with you at the end of a lesson to share successes and achievements; and possible next steps.
