Home Tuition for Sociology in Dorking

I am an experienced teacher with over 20 years of teaching A level Sociology on the AQA specification. My expertise is in teaching and supporting A Level students which includes Head of Department in a highly regarded Surrey sixth form college. I have a PGCE in RE and have taught RE, vocational Health and Social Care and Key Stage 3 Geography and History.
My focus is on supporting students to develop their understanding of the subject and build the relevant skills needed to pass exams.

Tutoring Experience

10 years teaching in Secondary schools as Head of Department. 9 years working with sixth form students as head of department for Sociology and Anthropology.
My experience in running a successful Sociology department includes teaching of the AQA syllabus and also, ensuring all students are fully prepared for the external exams. I have a wealth of resources I use in my sessions that cater for students of all abilities. I am also an examiner for AQA Sociology.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is the idea that all students are able to learn and progress and that through more focused one to one sessions students can be given the skills and confidence they need to achieve the best result they can get. We go through a range of skills esp. how to write high grade essays and how to create good a learning and revision style. What the examiners are looking for in high grade answers, have a good understanding of exam board assessment objectives, and how to meet these objectives in exams to get the best grade.
Sessions involve a variety of learning methods to meet the individual students requirements.
