I am a passionate, caring and kind tutor who has worked as a tutor for over eight years, teaching students in English and History from GCSE to A Level. I am a firm believer that every child has potential and that they can be nurtured for their ability to come out. I studied English at the University of Oxford where I specialised in Shakespearean studies and Modernist literature. I also received an unconditional offer and was a recipient of the Reuben Scholarship when going to Oxford.
Outside of tutoring, my interests are music, film, football, quizzing (who doesn't) and writing.I also work as a screenwriter.
I have credible experience as a tutor having tutored over 100 students mainly in English and History, including the 11+ and to undergraduate level.
I have tutored and mentored students who have gone on to study at Oxford, Cambridge, LSE and St Andrews to name a few. I pride myself on identifying problem areas with my students and gradually improving them so they can reach a place of high confidence when dealing with exams. I am committed to achieving the highest standards academically and always place the student’s needs first.
I pride myself on being communicative with parents, ensuring that they are aware of the child’s progress. I have worked with many families over a number of years, and have regularly been recommended to other families.
I tend to raise my student’s grades by two levels and have helped many students reach their aims, be that for university entrance or for general improvement in their respective subject.
I have also taught at schools and universities, hosting screenwriting workshops for students interested in getting into Film and TV.
I have provided mentoring for students at A-level and admissions preparations.
I customize my lessons to suit each student's unique learning needs. By quickly assessing their confidence and understanding of the subject, I adapt my approach to boost their engagement and mastery. As their confidence grows, I shift focus toward refining exam techniques and ensuring thorough preparation for success
