I am Assistant Head of Sixth Form & teacher of Biology at a local, independent school where I have worked for the last 14 years. I am also EPQ coordinator at the school.

I AM LOOKING TO TUTOR TWO, ADDITIONAL STUDENTS OVER THE SUMMER WHO WOULD LIKE TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING WITH THEIR GCSE OR A-LEVEL BIOLOGY. SO THIS WOULD SUIT ANYONE IN YEAR 10,11 or 12 WHO WOULD LIKE AN EXTRA CONFIDENCE BOOST.

I MAY HAVE AVAILABILITY TO KEEP ONE PERSON ON FOR A WEEKLY SESSION AFTER THE SUMMER TOO.

I hold a 2:1 BSc Honours degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Newcastle and a Post Graduate Certificate in Eduction specialising in Science.

I relish the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for Biology with my students and tutees, whilst also giving them the extra confidence boost that they need to fully realise their potential.

I currently teach AQA Biology A-Level although I am familiar with all other exam boards. GCSE Biology tuition is also possible for any exam board.

If anyone should require support with their UCAS applications or their EPQ projects then this is also an area of expertise that I can offer.

Tutoring Experience

I have 21 years of secondary school and 6th Form College teaching experience in the UK. This has mostly been teaching Biology but also some lower school Physics and Chemistry, in addition to mentoring students completing the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

I have tutored students privately for most of this time in Biology GCSE, A-Level & assisted with UCAS applications.

I have experience of running two departments simultaneously and maintaining high standards of achievement in both of these. For the past five years, I have moved from being Head of Biology to Assistant Head of Sixth Form, whilst still teaching GCSE and A-Level classes at the school.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring is designed around the needs of the individual students with the most important factor being to boost confidence and enjoyment of the subject.

During many years of marking exam questions, I have developed a series of useful approaches to enhance students' exam technique and their confidence.

I am happy to offer online or face-to-face tuition. Online would be on Microsoft Teams.
