I am a specialist tutor in Economics. I have decided to concentrate and focus only on A Level Economics, to provide the best service to my students. I have taught A Level Economics in schools and colleges for 19 years, due to the high demand, I am now a full time Economics tutor. I teach many students from all over the country (and international schools around the world e.g. Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia) online as well as many local students face to face in my purpose built classroom at home. I am a fully trained teacher and I have a DBS check.

Please be aware of unqualified tutors and ensure all “student feedback” is for teaching A Level Economics! Teaching is a skill which I have developed for the past 19 years, which is completely different to just delivering from a textbook, watching a video or recently sitting an exam then teaching it.

I have had much success with online tuition. Please be aware that a web cam is not needed for the session. All you will see is my resources and presentations projected onto your screen. This has worked very well for many students. Again, please refer to my feedback from tutees for more information.

I am married with two children. I worked in the business world for 10 years before changing career to become a teacher.

I have decided to reduce my hours teaching at college to grow my own private tuition business. I am keen to provide a high quality service in this growth area. I am now in a position to allocate more time to my tutees needs rather than squeezing in a tutoring session after a full day of work, again to ensure a high quality experience to my students. I believe this specialised approach to tutoring is necessary to provide a business like service. The tutor session quality has evolved and improved due to this. I have many tutor, lesson observations and references which I can provide on request.

Tutoring Experience

Before becoming a teacher 19 years ago. I worked in the Head Offices for large UK retailers such as Asda and Morrisons. My role was in project management, I regularly bring this experience and my knowledge of the business world into my Economics lessons. My practical experience alongside my teaching knowledge helps me to provide a more rounded education experience. I have taught with schools and colleges and have been graded outstanding in every lesson observation I have had.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is led by the student. We work together to identify areas to work on whether it be content knowledge, exam technique or time management. We identify the gaps and then work together to fill them. Some students request to revisit content from class for more clarity, whilst some students like to get ahead of the classroom teacher in my sessions. The student then feels more confident when the topic is delivered. My experience and flexibility means that I can easily adapt to each students specific needs.

I am an outstanding teacher (outstanding observation evidence can be provided) who is very approachable and I have consistently received positive feedback from students and colleagues.

Above all… I love teaching Economics which comes across in my approach to teaching. I really enjoy passing this passion onto my students, even the students that don’t like Economics.. I enjoy turning them around!. I am confident I can bring the skills from the classroom to the 1:1 sessions. Success results from confidence in the subject, I believe I can help to develop this.
