Coming from a family of teachers I began volunteering in schools at the age of 17 to get experience of working with primary aged children. From there I went on to study at York St John University, specifically in Primary teaching and undertook 4 teaching placements across the 4 year degree.
Over 9 years teaching in primary schools across Barnsley. Teaching children mainly in Year 6 but with experience across all Key Stage 2. I have a proven track record in progressing children from working towards to working at expected level in year 6 SATS. I also have a very good record of the number of children who achieve greater depth in Maths.
I use a range of learning styles, from traditional methods, interactive games, show me- tell me to encourage verbal reasoning. I am happy to teach to the exam as at the end of the day this is what children are judged upon.
