Tutoring Experience

In the last decade, I have taught, self-taught and been taught languages in a wide variety of styles. My instruction in French and Spanish has been extensive, working under some of the world’s best language instructors at Oxford University, and from my many excellent teachers, I have refined and developed my own tutoring approach.

I have a profound interest in language and expression, founded in a passion for European literature, cinema, history, culture, and thought; my areas of especial French interest include Albert Camus, Simone Weil, and François Truffaut.

Beyond thinking, I mostly play cricket and walk long distances.

LOGISTICS : In a free 30-minute consultation, I invite you to decide if we might be well-suited. And if so, we will work to establish a smart plan of action before we begin for real.
Once we're underway, I will support your learning with my targeted practice resources, and be on hand to guide you through anything.

THE METHOD : I believe in flexibility of approach, and look to work with each student individually to determine the best learning methods in each case. The student’s pre-existing linguistic capabilities, optimal learning styles and ultimate objective of language-learning are important considerations to ensure effective results.
I aim to offer tuition that is engaging and instructive, drawing out the expressive beauty of language as well as the intricate details of grammar and syntax.
