I am a maths teacher working at a school in the Kidderminster area. I am willing to travel within a 5 mile radius of Kidderminster for tuition.

I am also willing to offer tuition online using Google Meet. For this arrangement, I send a link a few minutes before the tuition is scheduled to take place.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a teacher of mathematics since 2010. Currently I am working at a school in the Kidderminster area where I am teaching mathematics from KS3 to sixth form. Prior to that I worked at a post-16 college teaching students Functional Skills Mathematics and GCSE Mathematics. I have experience working at various schools in the Midlands area mainly in secondary schools, but also in some primary schools as well. I have tutored students ranging from primary school age up to secondary school age.

Tutoring Approach

I have a range of resources for all age groups such as textbooks, worksheets and past exam papers. With younger students I may also use games using cards or dice to help vary things and keep their interest.

With students who are studying for GCSE, I will tend to consolidate and build on the work they are doing at school. With that in mind, it is useful to have a scheme of work from the school to know what topics they will be learning each week. It is also good to have regular correspondence with clients via email or text message to confirm what topics they are studying so I can plan accordingly.

At the end of each session I like to give feedback to students and parents to update them on their progress and point out any areas I feel that may need more development so that students can use their study time away from tuition constructively and productively.

Mathematics can be a difficult subject for many to grasp. That is why I feel it is important during tuition sessions to offer encouragement when students are struggling and give praise so that they remain motivated and wanting to learn.
