Online Maths and Physics Tuition

A highly motivated and results-oriented individual with substantial experience in teaching Physics to secondary and A-level students in both state and private sectors. My degree in Physics and Astronomy has endowed me with a proven track record of exceptional numerical and analytical skills, allowing me to tutor mathematics to GCSE students. My strong passion for, and aptitude in, problem-solving have been consistently demonstrated and refined throughout my professional career. Through my PGCE and continued professional development as a qualified teacher, I have been able to develop a pedagogy that focuses on giving students confidence in their knowledge and enabling them to continually relate it to the world we live in.
My previous role as Deputy Head of the Physics Department allowed me to develop a curriculum that was intellectually stimulating and engaging while preparing and propelling students forward in the next stage of their education in STEM. This role required clear communication of the department's intentions and outcomes. It relied on my organisational skills in setting deadlines and monitoring progress through to completion. In addition to my professional pursuits, I continually seek to challenge myself through avocational activities such as road cycling, learning Spanish, salsa dancing, and climbing, which further reflect my dedication to personal growth and perseverance.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a qualified teacher for 5 years, having taught in both state schools and international private schools. I am happy to teach across the four exam boards in the UK, with specialist knowledge of AQA, Edexcel, and IGCSE. However, my journey in tutoring students began back in 2016 when I provided students in their foundation year of university with support around their course content and exam preparation. I can teach teach Physics from KS3 up to ALevel and Maths KS3 to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach

I work to meet the individual needs and aspirations of my students by establishing where the student is at this moment in time and where they aim to be at the end of their target—whether that be the end of Year 8, GCSEs, A-levels, or January mock exams. This enables me to plan a structured approach to our one-on-one lessons and to track progress throughout. I use a mixture of PowerPoint presentations, exam questions, discussions, and interaction with different media formats (videos, images, diagrams) in my lessons, tailoring them to the student's preferences. This varied mixture allows for enjoyment and, most importantly, long-term retention and comprehension of course content.
