Online English and History Teacher

I am a qualified teacher working full time in my second year at a local secondary school teaching English and History. I am published academic author (Brill, 2021) with a PhD from UCL with a great passion for teaching and education. I specialise in essay writing skills, hold a first class honours degree in History from the University of Manchester and a Masters (Distinction) from UCL. My specialist areas are A level History and English. My hobbies including cricket, basketball travelling and reading.

Tutoring Experience

As a secondary school teacher, I teach 18 hours a week of classes in English and History. I have over 600 hours of tutoring experience in History A level, GCSE, English Literature and Language A level and GCSE. I have also taught three semesters as a PGTA at UCL. I have a great deal of experience both as a teacher of secondary school students and University students. Between 2016 and 2022 I tutored an average of five hours a week in the following subjects:
A and AS level : English Literature/Language, History, Philosophy and Classical Civilisation; GCSE English and History; Entrance exams for year 9 entry.

Tutoring Approach

My approach towards tutoring focuses on simplifying essay questions and breaking them down into understandable segments, clarifying what is required at each stage to succeed under examination conditions. In particular, I place a great emphasis on structure and believe that the crucial aspect of all essay writings, from GCSE to Degree level, is combining a student's intuitive style with a clear structure and effective use of language.
