My name is Joss Removed and I have recently completed a degree in English Literature from Newcastle University. I am 21 years old and my interests include travel, film and sport (particularly football).
During the pandemic, I helped a number of local children with their school work after their schools had been forced to shut. After this, I applied to work for the TeachFirst programme and my application was successful. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to accept the offer, however, I conducted some successful practice lessons on my assessment day. At school, I volunteered as a pastoral mentor, and I think that I demonstrated a sense of empathy towards the younger students that I was working with.
I would consider myself to be a patient and understanding individual, and I think that my approach to a particular lesson would be shaped by the needs of the student. I think that I am relatively fast to identify the weaknesses in a piece of work, and I would then focus on how the student might improve upon such shortcomings in an approachable manner.
