I've a 2:1 Degree in Sport Science and a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education and have played a number of sports to a high level, including representing English Universities at Cricket. I'm also a qualified Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket and Athletics coach and enjoy coaching nearly as much as playing!
I'm the former Head of PE at a 6th Form College teaching OCR A-Level. I have taught all the AS components (Anatomy & Physiology, Skill Acquisition & Socio-Cultural Studies) as well as History, Psychology and Exercise Physiology at A2. I've also been a practical moderator and examiner for OCR on the AS Paper.
I take a student-centred approach to teaching/tutoring believing that my pupils will learn more effectively if they figure concepts and theories out themselves. I believe that the students I tutor should take the lead in their studies and I will act as an active facilitator in that process. I categorically will not "tell" the student what to write down for an hour, the student, with my input, will discuss and then decipher what needs to be studied. I will also expect the student to complete homework to further improve and consolidate learning.
