I am a maths graduate with a PGCE in Secondary maths. I am passionate about maths, and particularly about inspiring and encouraging young people to gain confidence in their mathematical ability and thus reach their full potential.
Having left classroom teaching in 2021, I now work full time as an online maths tutor - a job which I find enormously fulfilling, as I work with students of all ages and abilities.
Outside of teaching I have worked in the voluntary sector and in Local Government. I am Mum to 3 grown-up children, and Granny to a toddler!
I have experience of teaching maths across a wide variety of ages.
Having initially trained and taught at secondary level, I took a break while my children were young and then worked for ten years teaching numeracy across KS2 in a large primary school. I have been a marker for KS2 SATs for over 20 years.
I then returned to secondary teaching, teaching students in KS3 and KS4, including Higher Level GCSE classes.
Since leaving the classroom two years ago I have tutored over 70 students online, either individually or in small groups. These have included KS2, KS3, KS4, A Level and Functional Skills students.
I plan individual lessons for each student, based on their strengths and weaknesses and the course they are studying in school. I am fully conversant with the Edexcel, OCR and AQA GCSE curricula, as well as the iGCSE and KS2.
I upload my lessons onto an interactive whiteboard platform, where both the student and I can write. The completed lessons can then be downloaded by the student to use for revision.
I am enormously proud of my students – their hard work and the progress they make. Here are some comments received from parents recently:
“I wanted to say thank you for working with (my son) over the last year. His confidence with Maths has grown massively and he has always been really positive about the lessons.”
“Thank you so much for helping him reach his potential with his GCSE and getting him off to a good start with his A level.”
“I just wanted to also say a massive thank you for all your help and support with (my son). He is definitely more confident in maths and believing in himself.”
“Thanks for all your work with (my son). It has helped him no end.”
