I am an enthusiastic teacher of English and I still love to read classic literature. I came into the profession later on in life so I also have a wealth of experience in the world outside of teaching. I fully understand the part English has to play in making progress in any career a person chooses.
I have been teaching English at secondary for 20 years. I am also an exam marker for AQA and have marked English Language Paper 1 since 2017.
I like teaching to be interactive, full of discussion and questioning. I prefer this to lecture style but I can do both. I like students to bring work to the lesson that we can then analyse and learn from. I am able to teach all aspects of the English curriculum - from year 7 to GCSE. I don’t have A level experience as my school doesn’t have a 6th form.
