I am an experienced and effective English teacher and SQA marker, offering tuition for students of all abilities at secondary school. Based in the Coatbridge area and willing to travel within Airdrie, Bellshill and Coatbridge.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching in Scottish secondary schools for fourteen years and have helped countless students pass their exams over these years. I have taught at all levels and have an in-depth knowledge of A Curriculum for Excellence, National 4 and 5 and Higher courses.

My role as an SQA marker- the Writing Folio, the Reading for UAE exam and Higher Critical Reading paper- provides me with some valuable insight into the post-examination process which enables me to provide students with extremely effective exam strategies.

Tutoring Approach

As a tutor I am approachable and flexible. During the first session, I will assess your child's strengths and areas for development then tailor a personal learning tutoring programme accordingly. I will continue to address and strengthen their areas of development throughout the academic year.
I consider feedback, both to the pupil and parent, a crucial element in the pupil's learning and I will continually monitor and assess the effectiveness of the tutoring, amending and adding content as and when needed.
Homework can be given if required. Tutees are encouraged to contact me (via email) in between sessions if they require some guidance.
