Home Tuition for Chemistry and Biology in Beckenham

Hello, my name is Kate. I live in the Eden park area of Beckenham. Outside of education my interests are sport/exercise and music.

Tutoring Experience

As a very experienced Science teacher and tutor I have worked in both state and private schools in London, for 18 years. I have been a Head of Department and Lead Practitioner (which involves training and coaching other teachers).

I have a proven track record of helping students to obtain A-A*’s, but also boosting grade D students to B/C’s.

I ran a very successful Biology department for 9 years, in addition to being a Lead practitioner responsible for improving the teaching and learning in a large state school in South London. I currently work in a private school and help students achieve their dreams of getting into medicine and dentistry.

I specialise in OCR and Edexcel SNAB Biology A levels.

I also teach Chemistry so love helping pupils with those tricky biochemistry units that are often unpopular.

I also tutor Physics as part of triple or combined science.

I am DBS checked, fully qualified.

Tutoring Approach

My speciality is explaining difficult concepts in manageable and relatable way, and making learning fun.

Each tutoring session not only focusses on relevant content, but explicit exam technique to further boost grades.

I can also build in assessment games to make the sessions more fun for those students who are not as engaged as they should be.

I provide regular feedback on how to improve, and can also set homework if desired.

The first session involves a free extra 15-20 minutes to discuss learning styles and needs so that sessions can be tailored to individuals.

I am happy to one-to-one’s or tutor 2 students at a time to reduce the cost for the individual. Please message if you would like to know prices for this (takes place at one students house).

I prefer online teaching as this has proven more popular, but am happy to do travel if local, or a combination of the two.
