Katie

I am a Bristol University Graduate, with a high 2:1 degree in History. I also achieved all A and A* grades at both GCSE and A-level. In my day job I am a journalist and a producer working on some of the UK’s leading podcasts.

I am a friendly and empathetic person who has a passion for learning and arts subjects. Having just completed my time in education I am very passionate about helping others to achieve their goals, whatever they might be. I am free during the week - evening and daytime - and at weekends for in person or virtual tutoring sessions.

Tutoring Experience

I worked as a teaching assistant at Danes Hill Prepatory School for two terms during my gap year in 2016. Here I gained valuable experience tutoring in a classroom environment as well as one on one tutoring of pupils up until the age of 13 for common entrance examinations. I have been a private tutor with GCSE and A-level clients in English, History and Politics for three years. My day job as a journalist and producer on factual and entertainment podcasts has further contributed to my passion for the arts which I aim to bring to my lessons.

Tutoring Approach

I will implement an individual teaching strategy specifically adhering to my tutees needs and learning style. With recent experience in sitting examinations in my respective subjects I have an excellent grasp of effective exam techniques. With my recent clients we have particularly focused on essay structuring and technique. A clear, concise and repeatable essay structure will help students to organise their thoughts and perform much better as a result. I have experience teaching both online via Skype and in person.
