Katie

My name is Katie and I have a degree in mathematics (2:1) and have 3+ years of working in a school.
I am passionate about maths and always bring out the best in each of my pupils. I am approachable, positive and reliable and enjoy working on a one-to-one basis with pupils to ensure they get every little bit of help required.
I live in Fair Oak and can cover areas such as Eastleigh, some parts of Southampton, Hedge End and Twyford

Tutoring Experience

I have previously worked as a teaching assistant, a cover supervisor, and started out as a trainee teacher before I decided to become self-employed and tutor full time. I have tutored individual pupils in the past, as well as small groups of students. I have worked in an all girls secondary school, as well as mixed secondary schools and have a good knowledge of the new GCSE papers. I have worked with both low and high ability KS2-KS4 students, as well as students with special educational needs. I have also tutored adults who are re-doing a maths qualification or studying for functional skills exams or skills tests.

Tutoring Approach

I have a very positive approach to teaching/tutoring. I always want to dispel the myth surrounding maths in that is always gets labelled as the "hardest" or "least enjoyable" subject! I believe every child has the ability to succeed in maths - the only difference being is that some may need an extra step to get there. The beauty of mathematics is that each individual has a slightly different approach to working problems out and ways of tackling certain questions. I will work with this and adapt to each individual student, developing their skills and ways of thinking to suit them. I have a large bank of resources available for use. I have had 100% pass rate with my GCSE students this year.
