I am an energetic and passionate individual. I enjoy academia, reading, and studying. I am a qualified English teacher; I have a degree in psychology (with honours) and a masters degree in English Literature. I have also worked as a teaching assistant with both special needs and non-special needs students. I feel that this, alongside personal struggles with dyspraxia (for which I taught myself coping strategies to overcome) has given me both a personal and professional understanding of academic struggles which I wish to utilise when helping others. My speciality is English GCSE AQA sylabus, but I do offer all other mentioned areas as well.
I have recently qualified and previously worked in as a teaching assistant in a secondary school for 8 years, supporting in subjects across the curriculum and age range. My main focus, however, has been in English and Maths. I have also spent the past two years teaching GCSE Psychology as an after school option. I also have previous experience as a primary school teaching assistant and have experience working with students in a a 1:1 capacity.
I am an easygoing, but focused individual. I have a lot of patience and will happily go over a topic/subject area multiple times, or find varying explanations to help improve understanding. I will often attempt to teach with either humour or creating associations to help the students both remember and comprehend the subject. I also start by discovering what 'type' of learner the student is and then tailor resources specifically to how the student learns best.
