I am a Professor in Sport and Exercise Sciences at Swansea University. I gained a PhD in Paediatric Exercise Science from Liverpool John Moores University, having completed a Masters (with Distinction) from Loughborough University in Sports Science. My career started through a Maths degree before applying it in the context of sport.
I have taught from Primary School aged children through to University students for fifteen years. Teaching at a university entails a range of teaching methods including lecturing to hundreds of students, small and large group seminar-based sessions and a mix of theory and practical skills.
I like to adopt a friendly and informal approach to teaching as I believe a relaxed environment is most conducive to learning regardless of subject or age. I firmly believe that each individual responds to a a slightly different teaching approach, which I will adapt in order to get the most out of my tutees.
