Hi, I'm Kimberly! I am a Durham University graduate with a passion for education and a deep commitment to nurturing the younger generation's academic growth. Currently working in education recruitment within higher education, I have developed a strong understanding of the educational landscape and the importance of tailored support for students. My love for teaching, particularly English Literature, stems from the joy of seeing students interpret texts in unique ways, shaped by their diverse life experiences. I thrive on creating an engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore different perspectives and develop critical thinking skills.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for three years, working with students aged 11-18 and supporting a range of learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other SEND requirements. I particularly enjoy teaching the GCSE specification and have experience with multiple exam boards, including OCR, AQA, Pearson, and WJEC Eduqas. My approach has led to significant progress for my students, with many achieving increases of up to three grades from their mock exams to their final GCSE results.

I am also able to tutor A Level Law, having graduated with a 2:1 with honours from Durham University. As a future trainee solicitor, I am happy to provide both subject-specific tutoring and generalised career advice for students interested in pursuing a legal career. My experience allows me to offer valuable insights into both the academic and practical aspects of law.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach focuses on helping students develop strong self-assessment skills by using example answers to highlight what makes a response successful. I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, guiding students on how to manage their time effectively and employ strategies to excel in exams. I believe that practice questions are one of the most efficient learning tools, and I work closely with students to write and analyse these together, ensuring they are well-prepared for the exam. Additionally, I introduce a variety of texts outside the syllabus to broaden students' analytical skills and build their confidence for the final assessments.
